Texas Parks & Wildlife Grant - The City of Martindale recently
closed out the Texas Parks & Wildlife Grant that was awarded 3 years ago.
The $25,000 grant combined with a $25,000 grant from L.C.R.A., enabled the
City and its Citizens to build the City's first Park. Named for Allen
Bates, an area resident who was very instrumental in the development of the
Park. Allen Bates River Park has many amenities such as a basketball court,
playground, swings, picnic tables and grills, walk trail, xeriscape garden
and public access to the San Marcos River. A new permanent sign was erected
to acknowledge the completion of the Park. Click here for pictures of the park
